Two things that used to be staples of the outdoor concert season but have been dormant in recent years -- X Fest and St. Paul's Midway Stadium -- will pair up for a comeback this year. Boston bombers Godsmack will headline the 93X Fest on May 28, the Saturday of Memorial Day weekend. The rest of the relatively monstrous lineup of metal bands include: one old-school favorite, Queensryche; two '90s mainstays, Puddle of Mudd and Zakk Wylde's Black Label Society; and newer names Hollywood Undead, All That Remains, Escape the Fate and New Medicine. Tickets are $40, and there is also a $200 VIP ticket that includes parking, access to a VIP area and other special do-dads (but not free booze). The 93X pre-sale is already going on, or general on sale Friday at 10 a.m. Click here for more details. For concert fans too young to remember when Midway Stadium used to rock, it's where the St. Paul Saints baseball team plays and it usually a fun place to see concerts (if not so great for sound).

Details of Rhymesayers' annual Soundset Festival on Memorial Day weekend will also be announced soon (you can at least count on Atmosphere playing). Fortunately for the four of us who will want to attend both fests, Soundset is the day after the 93X Fest (Sunday, May 29).
