The fog rolled in late in the rush hour in Burnsville and that might have been a factor in crashes on both sides of I-35W at Cliff Road. Those crashes occurred shortly after 8 a.m. and are still affecting traffic. Northbound is feeling the worst effect as traffic grinds to a halt at the I-35E/W split.

Further to the south, crashes about the same time at County Road 50 and County Road 60 took out the left lanes in both spots. While those have cleared and traffic has recovered, they did create a major backup that extened back to County Road 2 in New Market. For some commuters, that added 30 minutes to the drive.

One other incident that occured around 7:50 a.m. up on Hwy. 10 plugged traffic in Anoka and Coon Rapids. A lane was blocked on the eastbound side at Main Street in Coon Rapids with the bottleneck in place at Hwy. 169. That has long cleared and traffic is flowing fast again.

Up until 8, the Friday rush was a breeze with few crashes and light traffic volumes. Travel times were delightul as slow downs were few and far between.

On the board right now are those aforementioned wrecks on I-35W in Burnsville and a stall on southbound Hwy. 280 at Hennepin Avenue.

Off the mainline, authorities are dealing with an overturned truck on Manning Avenue just north of I-94 in Woodbury/Afton
