Our streak of quiet rush hours can to a crashing halt Thursday as temperatures plummeted well below zero and cold enough for black ice to form on the roads.

While slick spots developed across the metro area, the cities of Anoka, Coon Rapids and Andover seemed to have it worse. At one time Hanson Blvd. was closed at 140th Lane when a rollover crash occurred. That was one of many accidents and spinouts along Hanson and on Hwy. 10 between 7th Avenue and Foley Blvd.

The cold also brought more delays for Northstar riders. The commuter train experienced delays on the first two inbound runs. The fourth run also was running late.

I-94 from Albertville to Minneapolis crept along as accidents littered the stretch from Hemlock Lane to Hwy. 252. It's still about 30 minutes from 95th Avenue to downtown Minneapolis.

Currently we have pockets of slow traffic on northbound 169 from Old Shakopee Road to Crosstown, northbound Cedar Avenue from 35E to the Crosstown and on the Bloomington Strip.

Eastbound 394 also is sluggish from Hwy. 169 to Dunwoody Blvd.
