9 a.m. update: Rush hour wrap up

Black ice had not been a problem for most of the rush hour, but a patch of it might have developed on northbound Cedar Avenue in the latter portions of the drive to work. Between 8:20 and 8:40 a.m. we had three crashes between Hwy. 13 and the Minnesota River bridge.

The drama in downtown Minneapolis was a semitrailer truck that left its trailer behind. It happened around 8:30 a.m. on the ramp from southbound 35W to westbound 94. That snarled traffic on both freeways for about 20 minutes. There are some lingering delays at this hour.

Crashes on southbound 35W at Hiawatha Avenue and 4th Street are still creating some delays for drivers coming down from Stinson Blvd.

Prepare for a snow and slick ride home if the predicted snow comes. Hopefully the 1 to 3 inches will arrive late.
