Wednesday turned into an arduous commute for drivers on southbound 35W and 35E in the north metro and on northbound Cedar Avenue and 35E in the south metro.

Those routes were littered with spin outs, rollovers and fender benders that made for a white knuckle drive.

Black ice appeared on freeways and highways again, and that contributed to scores of crashes. At one time MnDOT reported 15 crashes in progress at one time. At this hour the State Patrol and MnDOT crews are handling 11 crashes.

Currently a crash is blocking the lanes of both westbound and eastbound 94 at White Bear Avenue in St. Paul.

Eastbound Hwy. 10 continues to be a problem with a fresh crash on the Rum River Bridge in Anoka.

Eastbound 94 continues to struggle in downtown Minneapolis due to a crash on the Mississippi River bridge just before Huron Blvd.
