8:40 a.m. update: Keep speeds down on the open road

Roads are in deplorable condition, so keep the speeds down if you are fortunate enough to find some open space. This driver on I-35 at Hwy. 8 in Forest Lake didn't and he or she got stuck on the guard rail in the center median.

Roads are in deplorable condition, so keep the speeds down if you are fortunate enough to find some open space. This driver on I-35 at Hwy. 8 in Forest Lake didn't and he or she got stuck on the guard rail in the center median.

Keeping the speeds down won't be hard for metro area drivers. Roads are locked up everywhere and nobody is moving fast. Plan on lots of extra time.
