8:35 a.m. update: Mendota Bridge work causing big backup

Stagnation means not moving, and that is the case on eastbound Crosstown. Drivers are waiting in line as far back as Portland Avenue as a result of construction on the Mendota Bridge. Eastbound drivers coming in from the western suburbs will encounter delays from Gleason Road over to Hwy. 100.

Stagnation means not moving, and that is the case on eastbound Crosstown. Drivers are waiting in line as far back as Portland Avenue as a result of construction on the Mendota Bridge. Eastbound drivers coming in from the western suburbs will encounter delays from Gleason Road over to Hwy. 100.

The crash on southbound 35E at Hwy. 36 has finally cleared. That is allowing traffic to recover and travel time from 694 to Pennsylvania Avenue is dropping. Currently that is 15 minutes.
