A semitrailer truck carrying chlorine stalled on the northbound Lafayette Bridge around 7 a.m., and for the past hour the left lane has been blocked.
Starting at 8:15 a.m., MnDOT says the bridge will be closed for "an undetermined period of time."
That's bad news for motorists who are caught in a huge backup that stretches back to Thompson Avenue.
One alternate is to use Robert Street, or if you're east of the Mississippi River head up Hwy. 61.
