7:45 a.m. update: Expansion joints popping

They look bad, but the rubber pieces in the expansion joints sticking up at the end of bridges on northbound 35W at 60th Street and westbound 494 at the Wakota Bridge are harmless, MnDOT officials say.

They look bad, but the rubber pieces in the expansion joints sticking up at the end of bridges on northbound 35W at 60th Street and westbound 494 at the Wakota Bridge are harmless, MnDOT officials say.

Maintenance crews are on the way to cut them off. In the meantime. they do look omnious and drivers are swerving around them. Look for sudden stops and slow traffic approaching both scenes.
