Roads are greasy and that has traffic moving slower than normal. A handful of crashes and spinouts are not helping things. Here is are some of the latest mishaps tangling traffic.
- Westbound 494 at Hwy. 169 in Bloomington
- Southbound 494 at Hwy. 55 in Plymouth
- Eastbound 694 at Shingle Creek Pkwy. in Brooklyn Center
- Eastbound Crosstown at Penn Avenue in Edina.
- Northbound Cedar Avenue at I-35E in Apple Valley.
More from The Drive
More people in the southern suburbs are riding the bus. The Minnesota Valley Transit Authority (MVTA) on Friday released numbers that show ridership is up 6 percent for the first six months of 2015 when compared with the same period last year.
Another round of metro area freeway closures is on tap for the weekend making it that much harder to get to major events which includes the Minneapolis Aquatennial's signature fireworks and other festivities (see below) while the Twins host the New York Yankees in a three-game series Friday through Sunday at Target Field.
This just in. The westbound lanes of I-394 between downtown Minneapolis and Hwy. 100 in Golden Valley will be open by 5 a.m. Friday, the Minnesota Department of Transportation said.
Metro Transit won't work on Blue and Green lines overnight Thursday. Service will run as normal.
Getting out of downtown Minneapolis has been an arduous task due to road construction. Throw in an afternoon Lynx game and the Aquatennial Torchlight parade, and the drive today could get more challenging.
