A third person has been charged in the murder of a Hopkins man whose body was used "like a trampoline" while several of his attackers jumped from a north Minneapolis retaining wall onto his chest.
Tony Baker, 33, of Brooklyn Center, has been arrested and charged in Hennepin County District Court with second-degree murder in the death of Kerry Duane Scott, 41, on Nov. 17.
Baker hit Scott with a garbage can, a shovel and a rake outside a home in the 3300 block of Girard Avenue N., the criminal complaint alleges, citing witness accounts.
The complaint added that Baker is "affiliated with the Crips" street gang. He was being held in lieu of $1 million bail.
Also charged with second-degree murder is Deandre M. Stokes, 25, of Minneapolis. Stokes has admitted kicking Scott, according to the criminal complaint.
Charged earlier this month was Jacquin M. Boyd, of Minneapolis. Boyd was charged in juvenile court, but prosecutors are seeking to have him stand trial as an adult. A witness told police that Boyd yelled, "I'm a killer," as he helped beat Scott.
Police say that witnesses reported seeing three males taking turns jumping from a retaining wall onto Scott's chest and abdomen "like a trampoline." Officers called to the scene found Scott bleeding from the head.
In the moments before the attack, at least one of the men had accused Scott of stealing something, according to charges.
