2009 BARBIE
Yes, she's had some work done.
Barbie turns 50 today, but will reveal yet another new face to the world. The new Bathing Suit Barbie, which became available at midnight, is modeled after the original 1959 doll in the famous black-and-white-striped bathing suit. The 2009 Barbie wears a striped halter bikini, trimmed in Barbie's signature pink, and has a new "face sculpt."
The iconic ponytail is back, with curled bangs, hot pink hoop earrings and sunglasses. The accessory never imagined in 1959? A cell phone.
The doll also will have a throwback price, selling for the original $3 for one week (through Saturday) at participating retailers.
