Authorities have identified the two people who died when their car struck a tow truck in southern Minnesota.

Jasmine Newman-Evans, 21, of Clarks Grove, Minn., was driving shortly after 1 a.m. Monday when her car collided with the tow truck at the intersection of County Roads 10 and 14 near Pemberton, the Blue Earth County Sheriff's Office said Tuesday.

Newman-Evans died at the scene roughly 20 miles southeast of Mankato along with her passenger, David W. Neely, 24, of Albert Lea, Minn., the Sheriff's Office said.

The truck's driver, Nicholas R. Peterson, 22, of Lake Mills, Iowa, was hospitalized with noncritical injuries.
