Two men were shocked, one fatally, Monday while working on an electrical transmission line in south-central Minnesota, authorities said.

The incident occurred about 8:45 a.m. at the CapX2020 Brookings County-Hampton construction project near Fairfax, according to the Renville County Sheriff's Office.

Great River Energy of the Twin Cities, which is heading the 250-mile project's construction, has suspended work at the site indefinitely.

The workers, employed by Donovan Construction of Ham Lake, were taken by air ambulance to hospitals in the Twin Cities area, the Sheriff's Office said.

The condition of the surviving employee has yet to released, as well as the names of both men.

There is no immediate word on how the men were harmed at the worksite, about 25 miles northwest of New Ulm.

The transmission line is expected to expand electric growth in southern and western Minnesota, as well as parts of Scott and Dakota counties in the south metro area. It is expected to be complete early next year.
