A 30-year-old man fatally shot his father and then himself in their western Minnesota home, authorities said. A call to 911 shortly before 6 p.m. Saturday sent Douglas County sheriff's deputies to a home 15 miles west of Alexandria, knowing only that there were two males inside "injured and not breathing," according to a statement from the Sheriff's Office.

The deputies quickly determined that both people were dead, the statement continued.

Edward A. Hooper, 59, was shot twice by Robert J. Hooper, who then turned the gun on himself and fired once, the Sheriff's Office said, citing details from the autopsies conducted at the Midwest medical examiner's office in Ramsey.

Authorities have yet to say what the circumstances were leading up to the murder-suicide at the home in the 18800 block of Tower Hill Road SW., south of Brandon.
