Minneota won its first state football championship since its three-year run from 1986-88, defeating Adrian 42-21 on Friday.

Running back Brandon Anderson and quarterback Sam Derynck stole she show. Anderson, a junior, rushed for 86 yards and two scores. He finishes the year with 34 touchdowns. Derynck, meanwhile, passed for 159 yards and four scores. He had just five other completions. Not a bad ratio.

So that does it for football season for yours truly. Time to wrap up my work here at the Dome and return home to feed the cats. David La Vaque (2A) and John Millea and Michael Rand (5A) will have you covered the rest of today. Then Millea and Rand (aka, the "big wigs") will be back here tomorrow for the remaining two Prep Bowl games.
