A Ramsey woman who recently lost custody of her 15-month-old daughter abducted the child from a day care center on Wednesday before the pair were found by authorities Thursday night, the Anoka County Sheriff's Office said.

"The Child has been recovered, SAFE and the suspect is in custody. Found by the Minnesota State Patrol on 35W at Stinson Blvd.," the Sheriff's Office said via its Twitter account.

A citizen who spotted the black car being sought during Thursday afternoon's Amber Alert called police. The child appeared unharmed but was taken to an area hospital for evaluation, police said.

Criminal charges may be pending against the 30-year-old mother, who remains in police custody.

Yusra Abumayaleh picked up her daughter, Khadijah Abdalaziz Sheikh, from a Ramsey day care center Wednesday without raising any alarm. The day care was not aware she no longer had custody of the girl.

Abumayaleh had been acting in an irrational manner, including threatening to harm herself and possible others, the Sheriff's Office said.
