100 Vietnam vets to be honored at EAA AirVenture after Honor Flight to Washington, DC

August 2, 2013 at 2:30PM

OSHKOSH, Wis. — About 100 Vietnam War veterans will be honored at the Experimental Aircraft Association's AirVenture after spending the day touring war memorials in Washington, D.C.

They will leave Friday morning on an Honor Flight from AirVenture in Oshkosh and then return for a special ceremony that evening.

The other highlights Friday include a screening of a new animated Disney comedy, a week before it opens in theaters nationwide. "Disney's Planes" is about Dusty the crop duster who's never flown above 1,000 feet, but he dreams of being the fastest air racer in the world.

Director and aviation enthusiast Klay Hall will also talk about making the movie.

Actor Gary Sinise will also perform with his band, the Lt. Dan Band — named for his part in the movie "Forrest Gump."
