1 dead, 2 injured in head-on crash in western Wisconsin

The crash occurred on Hwy. 63 near Spring Valley Wednesday afternoon

A motorist heading north on a western Wisconsin highway crossed the centerline and crashed head-on into a vehicle going the opposite direction.

One person died and two others were seriously injured in the crash, which occurred about 5:30 p.m. on Hwy. 63 at County Road Y near Spring Valley in Pierce County, the Wisconsin State Patrol said.

A crash report indicates that a 22-year-old woman from LaCrescent, Minn. in a Kia crossed the centerline and hit a southbound Buick. She was airlifted to a hospital with life threatening injuries, the patrol said.

Two people were in the Buick. The 91-year-old male driver from Ellsworth, Wis., was taken by ambulance to a hospital with critical injuries. A passenger in his vehicle, an 80-year-old woman from Ellsworth, Wis., was taken to a hospital, where she died, the patrol said.

The patrol has not released the identities of those involved.

The crash remains under investigation.
