Authorities on Monday identified a woman killed in a fire above a bar on Washington and Broadway avenues in north Minneapolis.

Rhonda Lee Santos, 58, died from smoke inhalation and burns in the blaze Thursday afternoon that began in an apartment above the bar, according to the Hennepin County medical examiner’s office. Santos was homeless at the time of her death, the medical examiner added.

Santos was found in a second-floor apartment at 2024 Washington Av. N. with severe burns. She died a few hours later at Hennepin County Medical Center.

Two men were rescued from third-floor apartments and treated for smoke inhalation, said Assistant Fire Chief Bryan Tyner.

The cause of the fire, which was brought under control in 45 minutes, has yet to be determined, Tyner said.
