A woman was found fatally stabbed shortly after 5 a.m. Thursday inside the transit hub of Ramp A in downtown Minneapolis, authorities said.
Officers apprehended a woman soon afterward near the ramp but later determined she was “not the person we are looking for,” said police spokesman Scott Seroka.
Seroka said there is a woman, whom he described as a “person of interest,” that police are trying to locate.
Police have yet to say what circumstances might have led to the killing or reveal the identities of the victim or the suspect.
“Investigators do not believe this was a random incident, and they continue to interview witnesses and view surveillance video,” the spokesman said.
Seroka explained that “a fight happened near the ramp, and the victim ended up [in] there. We don’t believe this altercation started where it ended. We’re not exactly sure where it started.”

The transit hub sits next to Target Center and near Target Field in the Warehouse District of downtown and serves motorists seeking parking places and municipal buses. It’s also near the easternmost point for the light-rail lines.
