A 66-year-old woman was in critical condition Wednesday evening after a minivan struck her as she crossed a St. Paul street.
The accident occurred around 6:15 p.m. near the intersection of White Bear and Idaho avenues. The woman, who was struck in the crosswalk, was taken to Regions Hospital.
Police spokesman Steve Linders said that she was wearing dark-colored clothing and that there aren’t streetlights over the intersection, which could have contributed to the incident.
The driver remained at the scene and was cooperative with police, Linders said. Police were still investigating the incident Thursday afternoon.
