Homestand starts with tough Spurs test

Wolves update: Minnesota begins a four-game homestand Wednesday with at least three of the opponents likely playoff teams. The Wolves already lost to the Spurs on opening night 112-108 in San Antonio. … On Monday against Cleveland, Robert Covington rebounded from a 1-for-18 night against Chicago by shooting 8-for-12 for a game- and season-high 24 points. Fellow newcomer Dario Saric has impressed with his rebounding and hustle, but his three-point shot has been off. He has hit 29 percent of his threes since joining Minnesota, 6 percent off his career mark.

Spurs update: The Spurs lead the league in turnover percentage (12 percent) and boast the ninth-best offensive rating (109.7 points per 100 possessions). Since joining the Spurs, DeMar DeRozan's shooting percentage has jumped to 49 percent, his best mark since his rookie year, but his three-point percentage has dropped from 31 percent to 19. He is attempting nearly four more two-point shots than last season, however, and only attempting 1.6 threes — down from 3.6 a season ago.
