The Timberwolves will have to find another NBA Development League option for its young players.
The Iowa Energy reached a single-affiliation agreement with the Memphis Grizzlies. A group of Grizzlies partners and local Iowa investors will create a new ownership group.
The options for the Wolves now are another affiliation agreement — the Energy had such deals with five NBA franchises last season — or the Wolves could secure a hybrid agreement. In the second scenario, the Wolves would run the basketball side of an operation while allowing the team owners to run the business side.
