Wolves-Denver game preview

January 3, 2013 at 4:35AM

Preview: The Nuggets ended the Clippers' franchise-record, 17-game winning streak with Tuesday's 92-78 home victory. They stopped the NBA's longest such streak since Boston won 19 in a row in 2008 thanks to some tough defense and six players scoring in double figures, including Danilo Gallinari's 17 points. ... The two teams already have met twice, both at Target Center: Denver won 101-94 on Nov. 21 and the Wolves answered with a 108-105 victory on Dec. 12.

Players to watch: Nuggets F Kenneth Faried always is a tough matchup, particularly for Wolves F Kevin Love. The guy who loves to run the floor scored a season-high 26 points and had 14 rebounds when the team last played three weeks ago. ... G Andre Miller made his first start of the season, for injured Ty Lawson, on Tuesday and delivered a 12-point, 12-assist performance which was Miller's 204th career double-double.

Injuries: Wolves G Ricky Rubio (back), G Brandon Roy (knee), G Chase Budinger (knee) and G Malcolm Lee (knee) are out. The Nuggets' Lawson is listed as questionable because of an Achilles' tendon strain. F Wilson Chandler and G Julyan Stone are out because of hip injuries.
