With the Brian Setzer Orchestra, the guitarist/bandleader has done some creative and swinging things, including his must-see, hip holiday show. His latest endeavor is "Wolfgang's Big Night Out," in which he recasts classical warhorses Setzer-style."For Lisa," an adaptation of Beethoven's "Fur Elise," feels like a gypsy jazz excursion while "1812 Overture" has a Latin vibe. Recording in his home base of Minneapolis and Hollywood, Setzer also reimagined "William Tell Overture," "Blue Danube Waltz" and "Eine Kleine Nachmusik" (hence the CD's title). He is especially fond of endings with a twist. It may sound like a loungey lark, but this is a big band with both musical ambition and a sense of fun.
