Coeur de Camargue
Winter usually is associated with red wines — I like to kid California friends that I feel sorry for them having such a short syrah season — but sometimes an aromatic, energetic white is just the ticket. The Coeur de Camargue 2015 ($17) is just such a treat, with a heady nose, gorgeous stone and citrus fruit flavors, and a persistent, refreshing finish. The “lift” in this white blend comes from mouthwatering mineral notes and just a bit of saline, not surprising since the grapes are sourced a few miles from the Mediterranean Sea. Ideal for a Super Bowl (or other) party thanks to its affinity for appetizers, this French beauty also should play well with most any preparation of fish or fowl.
Available at Liquor Locker, Domacin, North Loop and Wine Republic.
