CHEAP WINE

I'm not sure when I've had a $15 white wine that packed in as many flavors as the WJ Meek Yakima Sauvignon Blanc 2008. The floral, fruity nose is worth savoring before waves of melon, pear and citrus flavors roll across the palate. Minerally undertones keep this lush, soft beauty from getting remotely flabby. It's also sorta-kinda local: The winery is owned by Twin Cities resident Michael Meek (read more at startribune.com/a973). Enjoy it with chicken, fish or pasta with creamy sauces, or most any salad (especially a fruit salad).
