Wine deal: Kono Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc

August 18, 2012 at 11:09PM

WINE

Most New Zealand sauvignon blancs taste like grapefruit, sometimes painfully so. The Kono Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc ($13), on the other hand, has got a whole lotta green apple goin' on. It's fresh and lively and ripe, with just the right amount of acidity to go down beautifully and (not to put too fine a point on it) bring you back for more. It's a marvelous match for oysters in particular and seafood in general, summery green salads, most anything with bell peppers and goat or sheep cheese. Available at Lunds/Byerly's, Kowalski's, the Wine Shop (Minnetonka), the Wine Market (Mendota Heights), Strong Liquors, Apple Valley munis and others.
