WINE

For years, sommeliers have been flogging gruner veltliner as the next big thing, especially with meals. That this hasn't happened is no fault of wines such as the Hiedler Loess Kamptal Gruner Veltliner ($20). With a slate-like texture and gorgeous citrus and peach flavors, this Austrian white tickles the senses before even lusher fruit kicks in on the finish. Enjoy it with almost any chicken preparation, from pot pie to herb-roasted, or any lemony seafood dishes. Available at Ken and Norm's, Yarmo, Surdyk's Flights, Vinifera, South Lyndale, Hennepin-Lake and MGM-Bloomington.
