New Zealand sauvignon blanc continues to be one of the hottest categories in the wine world. But I'm considerably more pumped about the pinot gris starting to make its way here from that island. The 2012 Seifried Old Coach Road Nelson Pinot Gris ($15) delivers a downright pretty nose that's worth savoring, followed by delicious pear and melon flavors and mouthwatering acidity. The finish is firm and focused. This crisp but hearty white would play well with halibut or tuna, pork or chicken with an herb-citrus infusion and salads with some fruit. Or fruit salad.
Available at U.S. Liquor (Hopkins), MGM Maple Grove, 1010 Washington, Dolce Vita and Village Liquor (Prior Lake).
