Adam Wilk is in the middle of an adventure. Out of respect to him, we won't describe it as an excellent one.
The Twins have claimed Wilk off of waivers from the Mets and will join the Twins on Thursday. The 29-year old is coming off of a start on Sunday after he gave up five earned runs in 3 2/3 innings on Sunday against the Marlins.
He could be the man who will start on Saturday for the Twins against Cleveland. Could be. Let's see what the Twins say about this. They haven't announced who is coming off the 25-man roster to make room for Wilk yet. And that won't happen until tomorrow.
Another factor: Tomorrow might be a doubleheader.
It's raining here in Chi-Town, and the radar suggests more is coming. There's a 90 percent chance of rain at 7 p.m., then it's 100 percent at 8 p.m. as well as 9 p.m. It's going to be a long night here.
Back to Wilk....
Wilk, who was pitching for Class AAA Las Vegas, was told around midnight on Saturday that he was needed to start for the Mets because they had just suspended Matt Harvey. Wilk hopped on a red-eye and landed in New York around 8:30 a.m. Sunday. He went straight to the park and pitched.
On Monday, the Mets designated him for assignment - to make room for Tommy Milone, who is starting tonight. Now the man is headed for Chicago and yet another team.
