Jordyn Wieber, the reigning world champion, took her second consecutive U.S. gymnastics title Sunday in St. Louis, getting a little assist when Gabby Douglas fell off the balance beam at the start of the meet.
Wieber finished with 121.900 points, edging Douglas by 0.2. Take away Douglas' mistake, and the competition might have been a lot different, a fact that provides optimism for the United States at this summer's Olympics.
Aly Raisman finished third, and reigning Olympic champion Nastia Liukin qualified for the Olympic trials despite trouble in two events.
