Why Shakopee is your best bet for pre-Black Fri. bargains this week

The Shakopee sales in conjunction with the Canterbury Craft Festival means pre-Black Friday bargains.

My vote for the best place to start your shop local holiday shopping this week Wed.-Sunday? Shakopee. Seriously. Four good warehouse sales are going on through Sunday (and beyond in some cases). All offer excellent deals from local wholesalers and manufacturers, including packaged gourmet foods made locally, high-end designer candles sold in stores such as Nordstrom, gift bags and gift boxes for all occasions and coffee, syrups and mixes from a local wholesaler.

Here's the list. The four vendors have maps to all the sales, and they're in close proximity.

1. Delish gourmet foods sale (1157 Valley Park Dr. S., Shakopee, 952-496-2887). Soup ladies Maggie and Mary offer their locally made dry soup packaged mixes, cheeseball and smoothie mixes and gourmet popcorn at 40% less than in retail stores. Runs Nov. 12-19. Hours: 10-5 Wed, Nov. 12, 9-5 Thurs-Sat and 10-3 Sun.

2. Gage & Gage warehouse sale (660 Industrial Circle, Shakopee, 962-233-2081).Save 40 to 90% on giftwrap, bows as little as 25 cents, gift boxes 20 cents to $2, gift bags 10 cents to $2, plus ribbon, tissue, wrapping paper, napkins and paper plates. Runs Nov. 12-16, Nov. 21-23 and Dec. 5-7. Hours: 9-6 Wed-Fri, 9-5 Sat., 10-4 Sun.

3. Dianne's Custom Candles (700 Valley Industrial Circle, Shakopee, 952-746-5530). Save up to 90% on designer candles, reed diffusers, soy candles, votives and assorted gifts. Nov. 12-16, 21-23, Dec. 5-7. For more info, go to Facebook and search for "2014 Dianne's Custom Candles Warehouse Sale." Ask for a postcard with a coupon for "50% off one item" while at the sale. Hours: 9-4 Wed-Sun.

4. Cameron's Coffee (5700 12th Av., Shakopee, 952-374-5000), sells

coffee, syrups and mixes. They will be discounted 20 to 50 percent, including organic, fair-trade and shade-grown varieties. Smaller bags, 10 to 12 ounces, sell for $4 to $5, and 2-pound bags are $10. Mixes and syrups are $3. Hours: 10-5 Wed, 9-5 Thurs-Fri and 9-4 Sat.

The Canterbury Park Autumn Festival Craft Sale coincides with the four sales.
