Whole Foods opens in Edina

Fourth store in the Cities

Your temporary blogger has been out for a few days and totally missed the grand opening of the new Whole Foods store in Edina last week.

The new Edina store, on the France Avenue retail strip, spans 32,000 square feet and will compete head-to-head with a nearby Byerly's store, as well as a Cub and SuperTarget in the neighborhood.

This is the fourth Whole Foods store in the Twin Cities, and, of course, another high-profile store is proposed for downtown Minneapolis at the old Jaguar car dealership on Hennepin.

An interesting side note: Austin, Texas-based Whole Foods announced recently that it will no longer sell seafood from sources it considers unsustainable. The New York Times had an interesting story on this over the weekend.
