Here's a look at possible candidates to become the next women's basketball coach at the University of Minnesota.

Head coaches

Jody Adams, Wichita State: Adams is a former Gophers assistant for three years who helped recruit the class that included Lindsay Whalen. She has quickly transformed the program at Wichita State, guiding the Shockers to back-to-back appearances in the NCAA tournament for the first time in school history. Adams, who just completed her sixth season at the school, has registered three consecutive 20-win seasons. She played for Pat Summitt at Tennessee.

Bill Fennelly, Iowa State: He has a lifetime contract with the Cyclones, but if he's going to jump ship the timing might be right. Fennelly has led Iowa State to 15 NCAA tournament appearances in his 19-year tenure. The native of Davenport, Iowa, is closing in on 600 career victories and has been recruiting the state for years.

Paul Fessler, Concordia University: Fessler has made the St. Paul school a traditional power at the Division II level. The program hit a bump in 2011-12, but has rebounded nicely with back-to-back NCAA tournament trips. The Golden Bears have made 10 NCAA tournament appearances since his arrival in 2000-01.

Bonnie Henrickson, Kansas: The Willmar native hasn't been one to consider returning home, but that could be changing. Her parents still reside in Willmar. Henrickson has been at Kansas since 2004 and hasn't been able to achieve a level of consistency at the Big 12 school.

Kris Huffman, DePauw: The Northern Iowa graduate just completed her 21st season at the Division III school. A former Miss Basketball in Iowa, she has an .827 career winning percentage.

Aaron Johnston, South Dakota State: Johnston helped transform the Jackrabbits program from NCAA Division II prominence to a successful Division I school. He has a career record of 339-117 in 14 years at the school, which has relied on Minnesota recruits. He had eight from the state on this year's roster.

Melissa McFerrin, Memphis: McFerrin was a former Gophers associate head coach from 2002-04 and a big reason for the team's success at that time. She has been the Tigers coach since the 2008-09 season, but would like nothing better than to get back to Minnesota.

Sue Semrau, Florida State: The biggest question for Semrau is if she would leave Florida to return to the Minnesota climate. She just completed her 17th season in Tallahassee. Before Florida State, Semrau was an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator at Wisconsin under Jane Albright from 1994-97. The Badgers had their first back-to-back 20-win seasons at that time, and two NCAA tournament trips.

Assistant coaches

Mike Divilbiss, Illinois: The Illini associate head coach also served in the same position at Wisconsin-Green Bay. He has a 392-241 career record as a head coach.

Jan Jensen, Iowa: Jensen just finished her 14th season with the Hawkeyes, 11th as associate head coach. She serves as the school's recruiting coordinator, and has made her presence felt in Minnesota. The Drake graduate knows the state well, and is highly thought of by prep coaches.

Jim Petersen, Minnesota Lynx: The St. Louis Park native is a Gopher alum. He was hired by the Lynx in 2008 after serving as a television analyst with the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Kelly Roysland, Gophers: The former Gophers standout just completed her fourth season as an assistant coach. Currently, serving as the interim coach for the program.

Ted Riverso, Gophers: The Minnesota assistant won a Division III national title at St. Thomas and has been a Gophers assistant the past eight seasons.

Tyler Summitt, Marquette: Tyler is the son of former Tennessee coach and legend Pat Summitt. He is young, but has quickly made an outstanding impression on Minnesota high school coaches on the recruiting front since arriving in the Midwest two years ago.
