STYLE WATCH

Fabrics and wallcoverings are trending big and bold. Shrinking violets need not apply.

• Tricia Guild pays homage to Barbie pink with "Cabriole" from the Florimund collection for Designers Guild, distributed by Osborne & Little. Scherping Westphal, International Market Square. To the trade, but available to the public through IMS Design Connection, 612-338-6250.

• "Greek Key" in black and "Garland" in orange/gold are two of 24 pattern and color options in Jonathan Adler's first wallpaper collection, with classic, nautical and modern themes. The 27-inch-wide, 45-foot rolls are not prepasted; $195 each at www.jonathanadler.com; custom options available.

• Kirk Brummel has translated his zebralike "Ashanti" and tropical "Boca-Chica" wallpaper prints to fabric. The linen-cotton blends are 48 inches wide. Brunschwig & Fils, International Market Square. To the trade, but available to the public through IMS Design Connection, 612-338-6250.

FURNITURE

Minneapolis furniture designer/retailer Blu Dot will introduce seven product lines in May at the International Contemporary Furniture Fair. Among them: "Son of a Bench," fabricated of rubber-dipped steel, and the "Swept Sofa" (below) with a brushed stainless base, upholstered in super-fiber leather alternative. Also to be unveiled: the winning "Large Lounge Chair" entry to the Dwell magazine/Blu Dot competition by the late Minneapolis architect Ralph Rapson.

DESIGN

GunkelmanFlesher has opened an office in New York City's TriBeCa neighborhood. The Minneapolis design firm said it has started operating from digs in Barclay Tower; principals Andrew Flesher and Tom Gunkelman, as well as an assistant, will travel between the locales.

STORE NEWS

North Loop stalwart Corazon is moving its paper, art, gift and home boutique down the street.

Owner Susan Zdon said the slightly bigger space will allow for art classes and a library of artists for customers to reference. The store at 204 Washington Av. N. will close Memorial Day and reopen June 2 at 1026 Washington Av. S., Suite 100. Also being added at the new location: Modern Twist Tableware, rugs from India Rose, Everyday Stoneware from Yolanda of Minneapolis, new stationery lines and jewelry by local designers. Zeichen Press, the Minneapolis letterpress studio that turns out retro-flavored greeting cards and items such as the drink coaster pictured above, said it has turned to e-commerce to combat the economic slowdown. Its goods can now be purchased online at www.zeichenpress.com.

The number of occasional stores in Buffalo, Minn., continues to swell: Sweet Salvage is set to open May 1 at 705 2nd Av. NE.; owners Donna Bodin, Linda Kangas and Tamara Spaeth-Nyren say they and 10 other dealers will fill their store with antiques, repurposed pieces and auction finds as well as home decor items and architectural salvage. HIGH POINT

Warning: celebrity furnishings ahead. Introduced at this month's High Point Market in North Carolina, but not yet available at retail:

• Home Storage Solutions by Ty Pennington: Three collections by the ubiquitous TV carpenter in partnership with Howard Miller. Lifestyle (from storing MP3 ports to mudroom lockers), Personal (customizable options for finish, hardware, door, etc.) and Wall (display for keepsakes to media storage.) The 40 pieces range in price from $965 to $5,130.

• Cimarron Valley Collection by Jane Seymour: Western-inspired linens, tooled leather pillows and and lighting. (The "Remedy" lamp with a "doctor's medicine bag motif" appears to channel Seymour's early '90s TV role as "Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman.")

• Jaclyn Smith Home, the showroom: The former Charlie's Angel builds on her Jaclyn Smith Home line with a 4,000-square-foot showroom for coordinating lines of upholstery, art, tables, accents, fabrics and rugs.

HOUSEWARES

Can't remember the name of that pretty pink you liked? Global color guru Pantone has emblazoned the paint numbers where you won't forget them -- all over its Pantone Universe Kitchenware Collection.

In its first foray into kitchen goods, Pantone's collection, manufactured by Typhoon, includes ceramic mugs, storage jars and salt and pepper grinders. There's also a line of cotton tea towels, aprons, potholders and oven mitts, starting at $8. The items will be available in September at retailers to be named.
