ValueVision 'buy'

ValueVision Media Inc. of Eden Prairie (ticker: VVTV) has gathered another analyst's "buy" recommendation. Last week, Craig Hallum's Alex Fuhrman came out with the ''buy'' on the multichannel retailer, which has become a bit of an analyst darling. Five of the six analysts covering the company have "buys" against one "sell."

The latest buy comes despite pressure from a dissident shareholder group that announced it wants to shake up the company's management and board. Fuhrman didn't mention that group, but he did write favorably of the company's management, led by CEO Keith Stewart: "There are finally visible signs that VVTV's new and experienced management team has successfully put the company on an exciting growth path."

Container Store gets picked up

The Container Store Group Inc. (ticker: TCS), based in Coppell, Texas, went public Nov. 6. The employee-focused company, which regularly lands on a number of top-workplace lists (including the Star Tribune's), has one of its 63 stores in Edina.

Wells Fargo analyst Matt Nemer picked up coverage with an initial rating of "market perform." He wrote: "We believe the Container Store is in the infancy of its life cycle."
