Events to focus on admissions at Blake

The Blake School will host several events this month where prospective students and their families can learn more about the school.

From 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 10, a financial assistance workshop will be held at the Blake Campus Middle School, 110 Blake Rd. S., Hopkins.

Two "Discover Blake" events also are scheduled in January. One is slated for Monday, Jan. 12, from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Upper School, Northrop Campus, located at 511 Kenwood Pkwy., Minneapolis. This event is aimed at prospective students in grades 9-12.

The other event will be on Thursday, Jan. 15, from 6:45 to 9 p.m. at the Blake Campus, located at 110 Blake Rd. S. This event will focus on opportunities for students enrolled in prekindergarten through eighth grade.

The Blake School seeks a talented, motivated and economically diverse student body and believes the cost of an independent school education should not be a barrier to prospective families. Blake provides $4.8 million in need-based financial assistance to almost 20 percent of its student body.

All admissions and financial assistance applications must be received by Jan. 31. For directions or more information, go to www.blakeschool.org or call 952-988-3420.

St. David's Center to host open house

St. David's Center invites the community to learn more about its early childhood education program at an open house for prospective parents on Jan. 14.

There will be two sessions: morning from 9:30 to 11 a.m., and afternoon from 4:30 to 6 p.m. Parents and caregivers can tour the facility, talk with staff and pick up information for summer and fall 2015 programs. Free child care is available during the open house. No RSVP is necessary.

Online enrollment forms will be available at www.stdavidscenter.org/preschool on Jan. 14. Open house attendees receive priority in 2015 placement.

St. David's Center offers half-day and full-day options for busy families. Preschool programs and extended-day child care are available for children ages 16 months through 6 years (up to age 7 for summer session).

David's Center is located at 3395 Plymouth Rd., Minnetonka. Last year, 352 children attended St. David's Center's early childhood education program.
