How dominant has the Blake boys' tennis team been so far this season? The Class 1A, No. 1 Bears have won all five of their dual meets without losing a match, including a 7-0 whitewashing of Breck, No. 2 in 1A. The Bears' scheduled match against East Ridge, the No. 1-ranked team in Class 2A, on April 19 was postponed because of rain.

Taming the Jaguars

For all the success the Chanhassen softball team has achieved in recent years going into this season, there was one thing the Storm had never done: defeat Bloomington Jefferson. It finally did it April 20 with a 6-1 victory. Tori Tollefson hit a three-run homer and Jessica Bren singled three times for Chanhassen.

Hot streak

St. Michael-Albertville freshman pitcher/infielder Cody Kelly went 8-for-12 with a double, triple and four RBI as the Knights (8-0) defeated Cambridge-­Isanti 13-10 and swept a doubleheader from Moorhead 12-0 and 10-9.

Girls win, boys take third

The CCM High School Hockey National Invitation Tournament (NIT) took place April 20-23. The Minnesota 18U team defeated the Minnesota Seniors 6-2 in the girls' championship game at Braemar Arena. On the boys' side, the Minnesota Seniors finished third.

Clay target shooting begins

The Minnesota State High School Clay Target League began spring competition last week. Results from each week of competition are posted to the league website by 9 p.m. each Saturday. The state tournament will be held June 24 at the Minneapolis Gun Club in Prior Lake.
