Little Gallery opens in the university's Northrop Auditorium.

1935

Name changed to University Gallery.

1976

Hudson Walker bequeaths American art collection.

1981

Lyndel King named director of University Gallery.

1990

Los Angeles architect Frank Gehry designs new $14 million museum.

1992

Frederick R. Weisman, a Minneapolis-born, Los Angeles-based collector, gives $3.3 million for building plus $1 million worth of art.

1993

Frederick R. Weisman Art Museum opens.

2010

Museum closes for $14 million Gehry-designed expansion.

2011

Weisman reopens, rebranded as WAM.
