SERIES PREVIEW: NO. 1 GOPHERS AT MICHIGAN TECH

6 p.m. Friday and Saturday at John MacInnes Arena

TV/radio: Fox Sports North both nights; 1500-AM.

Gophers (2-0) at a glance: The Gophers, 8-2 in their past 10 against the Huskies and 172-77-15 all time, open conference play after trouncing Michigan State by a combined 12-2 last weekend. Captain Zach Budish had four assists, and WCHA Offensive Player of the Week Nick Bjugstad scored each game-winning goal and had an assist. Seventeen of 20 skaters had at least a point, including freshman D Brady Skjei, who scored his first collegiate goal. Goalies Michael Shibrowski and Adam Wilcox, who each earned a victory last weekend, are expected to each start this weekend.

Huskies (1-1) at a glance: The Huskies split the first weekend against Lake Superior State, pouring in eight goals during their home opener Saturday for their largest output since 2005. Gophers coach Don Lucia said their power play is a force to be reckoned with. Junior Milos Gordic posted two goals and an assist Saturday and four points in two games. Sophomore Tanner Kero notched his first three-point game with a goal and two assists Saturday. Pheonix Copley and Kevin Genoe might each see action in goal.
