Rangers show power in bunches

•TEXAS 7, SEATTLE 2: Derek Holland won in his return from the disabled list, and Rangers hit three consecutive home runs in the seventh inning to beat the visiting Mariners. Mitch Moreland started Texas' four-run inning with a two-run blast, and Mike Napoli and Elvis Andrus followed with solo homers.

•BOSTON 6, CLEVELAND 4: Jackie Bradley Jr. hit a three-run homer as the Red Sox beat the Indians at Fenway Park. Teammates David Ortiz, Travis Shaw and Ryan Hanigan hit solo homers.

Braun sets Brewers' HR mark

•MILWAUKEE 8, MIAMI 7: Ryan Braun became the Brewers' all-time home run leader with his 252nd — passing Robin Yount — and Khris Davis hit two home runs to help Milwaukee avoid a sweep with a one-run victory over the visiting Marlins. Wily Peralta got the win despite surrendering six runs on eight hits over five shaky innings.

•ST. LOUIS 4, SAN FRANCISCO 3: Yadier Molina's 100th career home run in the bottom of the eighth inning broke a 3-all tie, giving the host the Cardinals a victory over the Giants.

•SAN DIEGO 3, ATLANTA 2: Yangervis Solarte drove in two runs, and Tyson Ross pitched six solid innings as the Padres beat the visiting Braves to complete a three-game sweep.

•PITTSBURGH 4, ARIZONA 1: J.A. Happ allowed two hits in six shutout innings as the Pirates defeated the Diamondbacks. Happ, acquired at the trade deadline from Seattle, struck out three and walked two.

A's Chavez handcuffs Dodgers

•OAKLAND 5, L.A. DODGERS 2: Jesse Chavez gave up two runs on two hits over eight innings as the A's beat the NL West-leading Dodgers for a two-game sweep at home. Jimmy Rollins hit a two-run homer for Los Angeles.

•PHILADELPHIA 7, TORONTO 4: Rookie Aaron Altherr homered, doubled and drove in three runs and Adam Morgan pitched seven strong innings to lead the Phillies to a victory over the visiting Blue Jays. Jeff Francoeur and Andres Blanco also homered for Philadelphia, which stopped a four-game losing streak.

Utley traded to Dodgers

•The Phillies agreed to trade six-time All-Star second baseman Chase Utley to the Dodgers, according to two people familiar with the deal.

•The Giants plan to place Hunter Pence on the 15-day disabled list Thursday because of a strained left oblique and activate Nori Aoki, on the DL because of a concussion.

•The Cubs signed former 18-game winner Trevor Cahill to a minor league contract. Cahill, 27, will report to Class AAA Iowa, a source confirmed. Since winning 18 games with the Athletics in 2010, Cahill has been hindered by ineffectiveness and injuries.
