For more than 20 years, the funk-metal goofballs in Primus have celebrated New Year's Eve by performing the soundtrack to 1971's "Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory." (For an idea of how seriously the band takes itself, consider the fact it's responsible for the "South Park" theme.) Last summer, the "classic" Primus lineup — Les Claypool (bass), Larry LaLonde (guitar), Tim Alexander (drums) — announced it would take the Gene Wilder-honoring show on the road and release its eighth album, "Primus and the Chocolate Factory With the Fungi Ensemble." The LP features such classics as "Oompa Loompa" and "Pure Imagination" and passes them through the sonic prism of an acid-tripping carnival. Jay Boller
