Perchance to dream (for pets) Two new snooze-worthy options for Fido and Bootsie:

Dog Beds for Less makes more out of discarded textiles. Northeast Minneapolis seamstress and entrepreneur Shelley Leeson crafts the pillow beds from thrift-store clothing, drapes and castoffs; the foam and/or poly stuffings are also repurposed. The only part that isn't somehow recycled, Leeson says, "is the Velcro" for the closure.

The beds -- with removable, washable covers -- are priced $15.99 to $39.99, and come in a variety of sizes. Available at Cool Planet Goods, Sunny Day Earth Solutions and Linden Hills Natural Home; see details at www.dogbedsforless.com.

Felines find snug harbor in the Sweet Lounge, a perch that doubles as a scratching post.

Manufacturer Marmalade said each lounge has at least 35 percent recycled wood content, is bonded with nontoxic adhesives and is totally recyclable. It measures 34 inches long, 11 inches wide and 10 1/2 inches high. $159, available at Bone Adventure in Minneapolis, Edina and Wayzata; see details at www.marmaladepets.com.
