The WCHA is clearly the top conference in the land, holding the Nos. 2-3-4 spots for the second week in a row, while two other teams climb up a little. UMD moves up two spots to No. 6, while Colorado College moves up one to No. 8. Just outside the top 10 is North Dakota at No. 11.

And Bemidji State, which will join next season, is No. 7.

Should be quite a Final Five next month at the Xcel with or without the Gophers, who are probably going to have to go on the road for the second time in three years barring a late miracle.

Here is one scenario that gets the U home ice:

* The Gophers finish 6-0, starting with two victories over Colorado College this week, which would get the U within three points of the fifth place Tigers

* Fifth-place CC has to 1-2-1 or worse in its last four games

* Sixth place North Dakota has to go 4-1-1 or worse in its last six games
