• MINNESOTA STATE MANKATO 6, MICHIGAN TECH 3: Jean-Paul LaFontaine had two goals and an assist and Matt Leitner also scored twice Saturday night in Houghton, Mich., as the Mavericks handed the Huskies their first home loss of the season.In a game that featured a combined 90 shots on goal by the two teams, Minnesota State owned the third period, outshooting Michigan Tech 15-9 and getting two goals from Leitner and another from Mat Knoll to end its six-game losing streak.
Minnesota State got 42 saves from Austin Lee, including 18 in the first period. Josh Robinson had 39 saves for the Huskies, who got goals from Blake Pietila, Kero and Jacob Johnstone. The Mavericks also converted on two power-play chances, while Michigan Tech went 0-for-5.
"I thought it was an even game for the most part, but taking the two quick penalties was the difference," Michigan Tech coach Mel Pearson said.
• MINNESOTA DULUTH 4, DENVER 0: Travis Oleksuk scored his eighth and ninth goals of the season, both in the second period, in leading the Bulldogs to a victory over the host Pioneers and three points out of four on the weekend.
Brady Lamb had a goal and an assist and J.T. Brown had two assists for defending national champion UMD.
Oleksuk broke a scoreless tie at 8:26 of the second period, and Jack Connolly made it 2-0 by scoring 89 seconds later.
Kenny Reiter made 29 saves for UMD.
Juho Olkinuora made 21 saves for Denver, which fell to 0-2-2 in its past four games. The Pioneers have been outscored 16-7 in that span.
