WCHA names Katie Million vice president and women's commissioner

The Western Collegiate Hockey Association named longtime New York State Olympic Regional Development Authority executive Katie Million vice president and commissioner of its women's league.

Million agreed to a three-year contract and starts in Sepotember.

Million had been with the New York agency for 17 years.

She was in charge of multiple collegiate hockey games and tournaments, including six ECAC Men's Hockey Championships, five NCAA Division III Men's Championships and the 2007 NCAA Division I Women's Frozen Four. Lake Placid, where she was headquartered, also served as a consistent home for USA Hockey.

The University of Minnesota competes in the WCHA in women's hockey, as does UMD, Bemidji State, Minnesota State and St. Cloud State.
