WCCO continues to dominate the nightly news ratings, according to Nielsen's November ratings book, but KSTP and KMSP made impressive gains across the board.
WCCO is still nightly news leader
December 5, 2007 at 4:36AM
WCCO, the local CBS affiliate, was tops at both 6 p.m. and 10 p.m., a position it has held consistently since 2005, while third-place KSTP, the ABC affiliate, climbed about 7 percent in household ratings for both time slots. KMSP's "Fox News at 9," saw a 13 percent jump for weekday programs, the highest increase of any late-night newscast in the Twin Cities.
KARE, the NBC affiliate, was a solid second in key categories but managed to squeak out a victory in the morning hours.
The numbers also confirm that viewers are more and more willing to get their news at nontraditional times, such as mornings and noontime. To learn more, see Monday's Source section.
