Washington's Dwayne Haskins misses final snap for selfie

Dwayne Haskins picked up his first NFL victory but inexplicably didn't take the final snap in victory formation.

The quarterback was celebrating the host Washington Redskins' 19-16 victory over the Detroit Lions by taking a selfie with a fan who was in the first row. The only problem: The game wasn't quite over, and backup Case Keenum went on the field to kneel down and run out the clock in Washington's second victory of the season.

"I was so hype I think I broke a water bottle," Haskins said. "I look up and we were in victory [formation] and said, 'Oh, I thought the game was over with already.' But I'll get it next time."

The rookie quarterback made his share of mistakes on the field — and forgetting to get back on the field — during an ugly game against the Lions, but he was there when the Redskins needed him most. Haskins was able to brush off a wrist injury that contributed to some overthrows and the bad look of missing the final play in large part because he guided Washington into field-goal range to finally get in the win column.

"Closer — it's what I do," said the No. 15 overall pick in this year's draft out of Ohio State.

Injury update

• Carson Wentz walked out of the locker room with his right hand bandaged in ice after Philadelphia lost Sunday, the latest setback in a difficult season for the QB.

Wentz injured his throwing hand, or possibly his thumb, when he tried to tackle a defensive lineman after he lost a fumble. He had X-rays in the locker room that showed no serious damage but will undergo more tests this week.

• For Seattle, defensive tackle Jarran Reed left in the first half because of an ankle injury and fullback Nick Bellore injured his quadriceps.

• New Orleans left tackle Terron Armstead left because of an apparent leg injury.

• Tampa Bay defensive lineman Beau Allen (Minnetonka) suffered a stinger.

Etc.

• Buffalo's Frank Gore had 65 yards rushing to boost his total to 15,289 and move ahead of boyhood idol Barry Sanders into third on the career list. The 15-year veteran also increased his total to 19,154 yards from scrimmage to pass Marshall Faulk for fourth on the list.

• Redskins cornerback Josh Norman was in uniform but only saw the field on special teams. After multiple reports Sunday morning that he would be inactive, it was a bit of surprise Norman played at all.
